Instructor Development Course

The Instructor Development Course is the starting point of your career as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. During the 14 days of training we prepare you for certification on a level that is far above the minimum requirements. We want to ensure that you will not just succeed during your Instructor Exam, but that you will become the most confident and competent Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) possible.

After the 14-day course, you will go straight into the Instructor Exam, which will take two days. Upon completion of the exam, you will be certified as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. We run the IDC every month, check our starting dates to see which date suits you best.

What we offer

Small groups

At Dive Pro Academy, we have a limit of 4 students per Staff Instructor. This ensures all the time needed for development and personal attention to make you the best Open Water Scuba Instructor you can be.

Free accomodation

During the IDC you will have free accommodation in a Thai style bungalow for 14 nights. We want to reduce the stress as much as possible to ensure that you are well rested and prepared for the IE.

Support and mentorship

We pride ourselves in having extensive and vast experience in different fields of the Scuba industry. As our student, you will benefit from this experience and the personal mentorship of our Course Director and Staff Instructors.

Required courses included

During our 14-day course we will make sure you are well rounded and prepared. Our IDC includes the EFRI (Emergency First Responder Instructor) course, IDC Prep, Assistant Instructor (AI) and Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI).

Prerequisites

To be able to participate in the IDC, there are certain prerequisites. You have to be:

18 years or older
Be a certified PADI Divemaster or be a dive leader/divemaster with another training organisation for at least six months
Be certified as a diver for at least 7 months
You need to have 60 logged dives, including dive experience in night, deep and navigation diving
You'll need 100 logged dives to do the Instructor Exam
You need proof of CPR and First Aid training within the last 24 months
Be physically fit for diving
Submit a Medical Statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.

Additional costs and deposit

We require a non-refundable deposit of 10.000 THB. The open balance is to be paid in full upon arrival.

Required additional costs before starting the IDC are:

18,500 THB for the Instructor materials
3,900 THB for EFR Instructor materials

Upon completion, there will be additional fees to paid to PADI:

AU$202 for the EFRI Application
AU$995 for the Instructor Exam
